Scholarships

September 13, 2017

To My St. Christopher Family:

I am writing to you today to talk to you about Assembly Bill 165.  In Spring of 2015, the Nevada Assembly passed AB165 as Nevada’s Educational Choice Scholarship program.  This bill allows for outside scholarship organizations to help pay for educational expenses, including tuition at private schools.  If approved, these companies receive a tax credit for their contribution.

Currently, there are three organizations that are approved scholarship organizations: AAA, Education Fund of Northern Nevada, and Dinosaurs and Roses.  For the 2017-2018 school year, St. Christopher’s had over 140 students receive tuition assistance due to AB165.  The open dates for each scholarship will be made available to you as soon as they are provided to the school.

We will send home copies of the application packet with each student as they become available, and you will have to apply for each child individually for those of you with more than one child at school here at St. Christopher Catholic School.  While the application may look daunting, I think the time taken will be worth it.  If you have any questions about the packet, please call either Dulce or me here at the office and we will help you through it.

I realize there are certain reasons why you may not apply, the most common reason being you think you may not qualify because of the financial requirements. I still suggest you apply. I cannot guarantee that you will be awarded scholarship money if you apply.  However, I can guarantee that you will not receive scholarship money if you do not apply.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I hope that I have helped clarify AB165 a little and have persuaded you to apply. Again, if you have any questions, please come by and see us in the school office.

Yours In Christ,
